Getting Back Into It
Hi all,

I have recently been on a rather elongated period of leave, during this large amount of time, i have forgotten most of the things I need to do in USEC, so in terms of the Flight Simulator point, what processes should I go through in order to carry out an operation?

Any advice will help

Thanks,

Hi Richard,

Welcome back. Your first point of reference should be the wiki; the UFA section in particular has some great advice on what to do to get started, and in particular how to create and accept taskings.

You may have also noticed that we're in the midst of Operation Helping Hand; prompted by a VATSIM event to supply aid to the people of Haiti following the recent earthquake. Taskings regularly appear on the Operations board in support of this effort, and will give you the chance to fly a variety of aircraft.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post again.

First thing you will want to do is get on VATSIM and start completing ZLA rating to earn your aviator badge http://pilotcerts.laartcc.org/page/Home

RE: Getting Back Into It
Welcome back.
With respect to the Aviator Badge. As director of the new created training academy (see under Force Groups on the main site), it is my intention that each USEC member will have a pesronalised training and development plan. This includes both new recruits and existing members. For existing members (like your self and myself), this plan will include upgrading from the Flight Academy Wings to the Aviator Badge.

Until we get the Training Academy and new processes bedded down I believe those, that show proficiency with ATC radio telephony and have demonstrated competency at filing an acceptable PiRep, are able to participate in USEC operations. Being connected to VATSIM is mandatory when flying USEC operations.

Please start here at the VATSIM Pilot Resource Center (http://www.vatsim.net/prc/) if you are unsure (or need a refresher) of what is required when flying on line.

Please contact me if you have any queries or concerns.

Ok, thanks all for your input, my PC is unfortunately having to undergo a fresh Windows install which seems to be rising issues, hopefully I can get it sorted out soon.

RE: Getting Back Into It
I'm getting a "broken link" response even though an identical link from the vatsim mainpage seems to work fine. WRT actual training though, I'm aware that they're updating their training regimen. There's a Training link from the main page, and it leads to a 'Pilot Training Department Page' which refers to 'other pages', but so far there don't seem to actually be any. The ZLA certification flights can still be accessed through their own site:

http://pilotcerts.laartcc.org/page/ratings.html

The Aviator Badge currently requires completions from among these ZLA certification flights.
